New research has revealed there really IS such a thing as beauty sleep.
A study conducted by Sealy UK, the world’s number one bed brand, aimed to find out more about our sleeping habits and to discover the truth behind the link between a good night’s sleep and an improved physical appearance.
The research revealed that more than half of people believe that the quality of sleep they get has a positive effect on their physical appearance.
However, it has recently come to light that beauty sleep may in fact be a real concept, according to new research.
Bed brand Sealy UK conducted a study with the intention of finding out more about our sleeping habits and to unearth whether there was any truth behind the idea of “beauty sleep”, i.e a link between a good night’s sleep and a more attractive physical appearance.

Findings from the study discovered that over 50% people surveyed believed that the better their sleep is, the more improved their physical appearance is.
The physical benefits such people experienced included clearer skin, brighter eyes and an overall better complexion.
The study also revealed that people who get an average of 9 hours and 10 minutes sleep a night reported the most positive improvements of their physical appearance.
It also discovered that the optimum time to sleep is going to bed at 9:45 pm and waking up at 6:55 am.

When it comes to actually believing in beauty sleep, two thirds of women surveyed believed it was a real thing compared to just over half of men.
Speaking about the results, Neil Robinson, a sleep expert at Sealy UK said: “Many of us strive to look and feel good and spend a large amount of money trying to do so. However, we seem to forget that achieving a better night’s sleep can positively impact our overall appearance.”
“With this in mind, it’s important to consider the quality of sleep you are getting and doing everything possible to create an environment which makes quality sleep more likely.”
He continued: “This could include investing in a comfortable and supportive bed, creating a calm and quiet sleeping environment, or implementing a regular pre-sleep routine.”
